TT FANS could soon tie the knot in style at one of their favourite race fortnight landmarks if it gets approval as a wedding venue.
Bushy’s boss Martin Brunnschweiler wants certification for the famous Bushy’s TT beer tent to conduct wedding and civil partnership ceremonies.
And if all goes according to plan the scheme should be in place for TT 2012.

‘It came about because we have had a couple of receptions at the tent in the past and someone casually asked what the chances were of having a ceremony there.
‘I didn’t really give it a lot more thought until I heard about the Villa Marina being granted a licence,’ he said.
He’s now taken advice on the proposal and said it all looks promising.
‘There are various dos and don’ts but I think we can meet the criteria. Assuming all the right conditions are met and all the criteria are in place it looks like something we can do,’ he added.
‘We hope it is something that will appeal to the dedicated bikers. We can make it a fun event, perhaps with the bride arriving by bike or sidecar. It could all be very good fun.’
He said there would be certain formalities to observe, for example the parties have to be resident in the island for seven days before the ceremony.
‘Applications would need to be made in advance and the eighth day is the earliest the ceremony could be conducted for people visiting from off-island.
‘It is also a solemn occasion, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be some fun attached to it,’ he said.
With the usual opening time for the beer tent set at midday Mr Brunnschweiler said that would leave ample time to conduct one ceremony each morning with a possible reception to follow.
‘The tent would not be open to the public at the time – it would be for their private use.
‘Then they could let their hair down for a celebration. We would go out of our way to make it a success.
‘I only wish this opportunity had been available when I got married,’ he said.
