Next film coming up at the Centenary Centre, on 26th October, is something completely different - a low budget British movie called Attack the Block (2011) from the producers of Shaun of the Dead.

Inner City vs. Outer Space! A gang of teenagers on a South London estate try and defend their neighbourhood from invading aliens. There are familiar British actors such as Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) and Jodie Whittaker (One Day, Marchlands) but most of the actors playing the teenage gang members are new to film or indeed acting. Of particular note is John Boyega, a young actor who is going places. Joe Cornish, script writer and director, has made his mark with this film and has recently been co-writing for Steven Spielberg.
Not for the faint-hearted - these dark, shadowy aliens are scary! Teenagers (15+) will love it. So will their parents. Don’t miss the chance to see this hoodie gang fighting outer space to save their lives and their block. The men are in most danger! Expect screams and fireworks!!
The film has a runtime of 88 mins and a 15 certificate due to alien violence, drugs and bad language. It is billed as an action/comedy/sci-fi.
Usual starting time of 7:45pm, doors open at 7:15pm. Tickets are £4 full price and £3 concessions, available two weeks in advance from Celtic Gold (Peel). Reservations with seat guarantee and payable on the door can be made at Shakti Man (Ramsey), Mostly Manx (Douglas) and Thompson Travel (Port Erin). Any unsold tickets available on the door.
